Merry Christmas 2013

Yesterday, Michele and I went to visit our sister in the city. I brought along some makeup, and the three of us got all glammed up for a family photo. Pretty ladies! Nancy rocks that head scarf — total sophistication!

The husbands always look good, even without makeup.

That night, Rob and I enjoyed the traditional Weir family Christmas Eve barbeque.  As told to me, it all started when my late father-in-law had a barbeque as a way to  avoid supplement the Feast of the Seven Fishes. The aroma of burgers on a cold winter night beckoned similarly-afflicted neighbors, and a tradition was born.

But me, I love seafood. So, tonight I’m making a casserole with cod, haddock, scallops and cream of shrimp soup. My mother used to make something like it, and even though I’m certain part of my after-school responsibilities was to put this dinner together, none of us can remember the recipe. Was there cheese on top? Rice on the bottom?  Oh, it will be fun to try in any case.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
